A note from Mollie's husband

An update, and a programming note

First, thank you all who have continued to support Mollie and her writing even as she has been unable to write weekly. Thank you also to those who have joined in the past few months. She misses this space and connecting with each of you.

Long Covid Health update

Mollie's health continues to be an issue and so far her very long list of symptoms largely remain where they’ve been. This includes fevers that continue to be present daily for a large part of the day, extreme fatigue and and any effort beyond using her wheelchair to get to the bathroom knocks her completely out. She continues to focus on resting and healing. While she grieves and rages at times over our family’s situation, her sense of humor remains solidly intact. She received a loaner wheelchair recently to use while the paperwork is sent to the insurance company, and they decide if she's approved to get her own wheelchair. We welcome your positive energy as we wait to hear.

We are hoping to purchase a medical device to assist in Mollie's and the kids’ neurological recovery. We have been on the waiting list for 8 months for this device. The treatment is intended to help with her memory loss, word finding difficulty, peripheral neuropathy, tremoring, concentration, inflammation, CPTSD, insomnia, anxiety and depression, etc. Our turn has finally come and we are going to have to turn it down if we are not able to raise the money for it. We had hoped that we'd be able to do this in the time we've been on the waiting list. However, with existing medical debt and the need for other ongoing treatment for Mollie and the kids we were unable to as we've just been doing our best to stay afloat with these expenses. While we’ve been able to try this treatment a few times with positive results, it's very costly, and not covered by insurance. If you're able, we would appreciate your support on our GoFundMe. If you can share that widely it would help so much as we continue to feel the financial weight of dealing with this illness.

Programming Note

Something most of you might not know is that a few years ago Mollie wrote a book. It's about the beginning of her therapy journey and growing her mental health and wellness as she addressed the CPTSD that resulted from extensive childhood abuse. Mollie has given me permission to begin to share it in this space and by the end you will have read her book.

I will be posting portions of the book every Friday. Something you can sit with on your Friday afternoon, or read over the weekend.

Thank you again for your continued support. Comments are open for everyone on this post. If there are any words of encouragement or questions, you can put it in the comments.
